One of the biggest barriers to the work I do in helping people experience better health and weight loss is the common perceptions that

  1. meat and dairy are necessary for a healthful diet and lifestyle and provide necessary nutrients, vitamins and minerals and
  2. that a vegan or predominantly plant-based diet just can’t provide these same nutrients.

Here’s a test:

When I say ‘meat’ do you think ‘protein’?

When I say ‘milk’ do you think ‘calcium’ or ‘strong bones’?

If you don’t, you’d be in the unusual 10% I’d guess that have other ideas about meat an dairy.

Here’s what I think:

Meat = heart disease, cancer, diabetes, weight gain.

Dairy = weak bones, cancer, hormone disruption, pus cells and weight gain.

I have good reason to think this – the hard core scientific data backs it up.

Dr Kim Allan William, President of The American College of Cardiology recently famously said that:

“There are two types of cardiologists: vegans and those who haven’t read the data”

Countless highly-credible and experienced medical doctors like Dr Neal Barnard (president of the Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine, Dr John McDougall, Dr Dean Ornish and Dr T Colin Campbell, as well as Nathan Pritikin have all had huge success with preventing and reversing degenerative disease with a plant-based, alkaline diet and outright condemned meat and dairy as dangerous foods (You can see some of their quotes below.)

So why then is the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) still recommending animal products in its national policy and schools programs?

One word – Funding.

The meat & dairy industries spend billions of dollars each year on government lobbying and marketing campaigns as well as subsidising the meat and dairy industry directly to keep farmers in business and the public buying.

It’s worth spending 20 minutes finding out how the food industry brainwashes the general public and to become wise as to what is healthy and what is not. This video is a  look at how the dairy and meat farmers receive subsidies from the government to keep producing food that is proven to be bad for our health and how $billions are spent each year on lobbying and propaganda.

Fruit and vegetables are classed as ‘speciality crops’ and farmers are not funded in the same way that meat and dairy farmers are and are in fact sidelined and forbidden to grow produce on ‘base acre’ animal feed crop areas.

All the while, there are countless studies out there linking meat and dairy to cancer, heart disease and diabetes and yet their promotion is still in national policy that is filtered into schools and to children at an early age…
